The Academic Support Center (ASC) is a vital component of Medaille College's commitment to academic excellence and to the success of its students.

We offer a wide range of services to assist the student in achieving his/her academic goals. The ASC provides an environment in which students can get extra help, study for a test, work on a class assignment, or enhance basic academic and study skills. Our staff works to promote an environment of academic excellence while fostering success for the individual student. Regardless of your curriculum, the Academic Support Center offers many services that may be of interest or assistance to you.

All registered Medaille students are welcome in the Academic Support Center, whether you're a recent high school graduate, an adult returning to college, a transfer student, or non-matriculated.

Schedule an Appointment

Students may come to the Academic Support Center to schedule an appointment or use our online systemfor scheduling appointments.  Students can use our convenient appointment system to schedule a tutoring appointment or testing accommodations.  Appointments can also be made for academic coaching, academic probation or to meet with any ASC staff member.

Tutoring

We offer peer and professional tutoring in a full range of subject areas in individual or group sessions. Our trained tutors will provide you with personal attention as you study for tests, write papers and work on research projects. Tutoring sessions are scheduled Monday through Saturday.

In addition, SMARTHINKING online tutoring is available for all registered students.  SMARTHINKING can be accessed through MedailleOne.

Study groups for individual classes can be arranged by the ASC. Groups can meet independently for as many times during the semester as group members wish. ASC staff can assist with group activities and lend expertise.

Academic Coaching

Academic Coaching provides students with the opportunity to work with professional staff to enhance academic skills, discover motivation and improve performance.  Coaching creates time for active and reflective self-evaluation and offers continuous support.  Coaches work with students to manage procrastination, reduce stress and test anxiety, develop study skills necessary to be successful, improve time management skills, build confidence, learn to balance academics with extracurricular activities, and set short and long term goals.

Computer Lab

The ASC is equipped with computers that can be used to type a paper, utilize online resources, or check e-mail. In addition, the ASC has Dragon Naturally Speaking, Kurzweil, and Zoom Text assistive technology software installed on select computers.

Resources

The Academic Support Center provides learning strategy guides on topics such as study skills, time management, test anxiety, MLA, CBE, and APA guidelines, calculators, microscope and slides, and reference materials.
