Funds raised from the 2014 Golf Classic will directly support endowed scholarships* at Medaille. The tournament is held in honor of Allen Lee Downing, who was a student enrolled in the MBA program when he tragically passed away at the age of 27 following a motorcycle accident. Allen’s passion for learning and commitment to community service directly reflects the College’s goals and priorities.

In the words of a grateful student

“While I did not know Allen, I will endeavor to continue his legacy of academic accomplishment and service to the community. Your generosity will make a difference in my life and the lives of many students for years to come. I greatly appreciate the fact that you care about the students who work so hard at Medaille.” Bradley O.

“Scholarships like this one have made a difference in the lives of many students. It is difficult to pay for all of the expenses that accompany a college education. This is especially true for non-traditional students. Things like work, family and other responsibilities make the task challenging: as a ingle mother of three, I can attest to this fact. It delights me to know that people like you care about others and are willing to help students, like me, follow their dreams.” Sherry S.

*Note: Gifts to permanent endowment funds of Medaille College are governed
by the New York State law which dictates that annual distributions from permanent endowment funds are to be formulated using a series of prudent factors contained in the law. While this law also allows for limited invasion of principal where warranted, it is the Board of Trustee’s policy to maintain and grow these funds over time.

I'm grateful for the education I've received.

The instructors were knowledgeable and welcomed class discussions, with
respect for each student's contribution. I've learned how to be a more
effective leader. My capstone class gave insight on how to combine all
the education learned to operate a business. That's when I realized how
much I had sharpened my knowledge.
