The New York State Board of Regents and the New York State Department of Education have approved Medaille College’s first doctoral program, the doctor of psychology in clinical psychology (PsyD).

This degree is designed for students pursuing careers as licensed professional psychologists. Courses and practical experience within the program will prepare students to provide psychological assessment, psychotherapy and consultation, among other paths available for clinical psychologists. The program follows the practitioner-scholar model of the National Council of Schools and Programs in Professional Psychology, and meets the requirements for licensure in New York.

Lynn Horne-Moyer, Ph.D., the program’s director, anticipates that the program, based at Medaille’s Amherst Campus, will begin in fall 2012.

I'm grateful for the education I've received.

The instructors were knowledgeable and welcomed class discussions, with
respect for each student's contribution. I've learned how to be a more
effective leader. My capstone class gave insight on how to combine all
the education learned to operate a business. That's when I realized how
much I had sharpened my knowledge.
