Medaille College hosted its annual reception to recognize the work of about 100 Buffalo Public School students through the “Speak Your Mind and Shape Your World” project.
Through this year-long endeavor, high school students produce a professional art and literary journal with the goals of increasing public awareness of students’ talent; connecting students to local cultural resources; and, providing guidance as students consider higher education options.
Hundreds of students submitted art and writing to this year's issue, and the journal's Student Editorial Board selected work from seventeen schools for publication. A student spoken word CD and artist note cards will also be released at the event.
Since its start as a summer creative writing group in 2003, nearly 550 young artists and writers have participated in the program.

The instructors were knowledgeable and welcomed class discussions, with
respect for each student's contribution. I've learned how to be a more
effective leader. My capstone class gave insight on how to combine all
the education learned to operate a business. That's when I realized how
much I had sharpened my knowledge.
