Faculty and staff participated in an educational session at the Buffalo Campus with a theme of “reaching students where they are.” The event, sponsored by a federal Title III grant, included a summary of learning communities assessment data, a student discussion panel and guest speaker Kenneth J. Takeuchi, Ph.D.

Dr. Takeuchi, a SUNY distinguished teaching professor at the University at Buffalo’s Department of Chemistry, spoke on “The Art of Lecturing: Information, Organization, Motivation, Learning.” The day concluded with an overview of the freshmen book selection, Step Out on Nothing, by Byron Pitts.

I'm grateful for the education I've received.

The instructors were knowledgeable and welcomed class discussions, with
respect for each student's contribution. I've learned how to be a more
effective leader. My capstone class gave insight on how to combine all
the education learned to operate a business. That's when I realized how
much I had sharpened my knowledge.
