Five Medaille Alumni

November 16, 2011

On Tuesday, November 15, Medaille’s Amherst Alumni Committee, in conjunction with the Office of Career Planning, hosted the second of a four-part Professional Networking Speaker Series.

Tim Kwiatkowski ’86, the event’s presenter, is vice president for commercial banking at Five Star Bank. He addressed the topic of the program: How to Expand Your Professional Network.

Attended by current students and alumni alike, the program offered insight from the perspective of an experienced authority on successfully developing one’s networking base and creating opportunities for professional growth. Though Kwiatkowski’s advice was extensive and detailed, his presentation highlighted three particular ways professionals can expand their networks: 1) making use of business cards and following-up with those from whom you received the card; 2) ensuring weekly or monthly contact with people in your network, even those with whom you interact rarely on a professional level and 3) be confident and genuine in all professional interactions.

The next event in the series will be held on January 17, 2012 at the Amherst Campus and will address an equally relevant topic: Online Etiquette.

I'm grateful for the education I've received.

The instructors were knowledgeable and welcomed class discussions, with
respect for each student's contribution. I've learned how to be a more
effective leader. My capstone class gave insight on how to combine all
the education learned to operate a business. That's when I realized how
much I had sharpened my knowledge.
