On Friday, April 13, Medaille hosted its annual Faculty Recognition Reception in the Commons Cafe, a function that serves to highlight the accomplishments of the College’s instructors during the 2011-2012 academic year.
After opening remarks from Douglas W. Howard, Ph.D., vice president of academic affairs, awards were presented to two faculty members: Mark Lavatelli, M.A., M.F.A., professor in the Department of Humanities, who received the Dr. Brian R. Shero Teaching Excellence and Campus Leadership Award and Louis Pozantides, M.S.Ed., clinical associate professor in the Department of Communication, who was named the Student Government Association’s Professor of the Year.
More than two dozen instructors were also recognized with a Faculty Development Award and the professional publications, presentations and accomplishments of faculty members over the past year were acknowledged over the course of the event. The evening closed with a celebration of the career of Donald O’Connor, a clinical professor in education, who will retire at the end of this semester following seven years of service at the College.

The instructors were knowledgeable and welcomed class discussions, with
respect for each student's contribution. I've learned how to be a more
effective leader. My capstone class gave insight on how to combine all
the education learned to operate a business. That's when I realized how
much I had sharpened my knowledge.
