Dr. Matt Bowker’s new book, Rethinking Absurdity: Albert Camus, Postmodernity, and the Survival of Innocence, will be published this year by Routledge and featured in the book series: Routledge Innovations in Political Theory. Rethinking Absurdity is a psychopolitical investigation of absurd philosophy and literature, anti-subjective trends in postmodern ethical thought, and narratives of survival and victimization in contemporary culture.
It combines texts and methods from the fields of political and moral philosophy, literary theory, and psychoanalysis, and includes data Dr. Bowker obtained in the first research interviews conducted on the subject of absurd experience. Dr. Bowker’s other recent books include Albert Camus and the Political Philosophy of the Absurd: Ambivalence, Resistance, and Creativity (Lexington Books, in press) and Ostranenie: On Shame and Knowing (Punctum Books, 2012).
Dr. Bowker is a visiting assistant professor in the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies.
The instructors were knowledgeable and welcomed class discussions, with
respect for each student's contribution. I've learned how to be a more
effective leader. My capstone class gave insight on how to combine all
the education learned to operate a business. That's when I realized how
much I had sharpened my knowledge.
