Program Foundations

The phrase "homeland security" stemmed from the events of 9/11, when terrorist attacks challenged the United States to respond to threats of all kinds, from localized emergency situations to widespread natural disasters. Today, homeland security attracts professional managers who know what's at stake: the health, safety and survival of individuals, companies and governments.

Our program teaches to the theories and tools needed to prepare for, to prevent and ultimately to recover from all types of disasters. Courses cover topics like domestic and international law, emergency management, community preparedness and terrorism, all with a global perspective and with an eye toward protection and service. Guided by faculty with extensive experience in the field, you will develop the analytical and communication skills that you will need when making decisions and making progress in a crisis.
