H. Rodent Husbandry

1. Water |
Daily:
|
Replace water & touch tip of sipper tube to ensure patency. |
Tues/Thurs/Sat:
|
Sanitize equipment:
- Use
1 pump of disinfectant per gallon of hot water
- Scrub
with bottle brush
- Rinse
thoroughly with hot water and put away
|
2. Food: |
Give only 1 cup! |
Daily:
|
Add more food as needed |
3. Cage lids |
Tues/Sat:
|
Sanitize cage lids:
- Discard
old food
- Scrub
lid with hot disinfectant solution
- Rinse
well with hot water
- Dry
and put away
|
4. Cages (shoeboxes) |
Daily:
|
Check cages for soiling and CLEAN AS NEEDED! |
Tues/Sat:
|
Transfer rodents to clean cage with 1 scoop bedding
Sanitize
cage:
- Clean
all sides and top of cage
- Remove
and clean floor rack
- Scrub
well with hot disinfectant solution and rinse well
- Dry
and put away

5. Cage racks |
Sat:
|
Remove all shoeboxes and brush dust off of all shelves, then
replace shoeboxes. |
