2020 Virtual Commencement FAQ

Do I have to wear a cap and/or gown in order to submit a video or photo for virtual commencement?

No, you may submit a video or photo with or without academic regalia.

What if I didn't order a cap and/or gown but want to wear them in my video?

The website to order regalia will remain open until November 13, 2020. All orders placed will be for home delivery.

The Medaille College Bookstore will also have caps and tassels available for purchase, in-store only. The bookstore will not be carrying gowns for the virtual commencement, due to considerations of space and the necessity to prepare for the spring semester. We do have a limited number of hoods available from previous ceremonies.

If I don't need a cap and gown, may I return one that I purchased already?

Due to the extraordinary nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, Herff-Jones will accept returns of regalia, so long as they are clean and unworn. All cap and gown returns must be accompanied by a completed cap and gown return form. All cap and gown return questions should be addressed to Herff-Jones.

What if I would like my honors cords with my regalia?

If a student is interested in obtaining their cords, they may contact the Registrar's office.

Will I be listed in the virtual ceremony if I don’t submit a photo or video?

Yes, your name will be listed in the virtual ceremony, even if you don’t submit a video or photo.

Will my friends and family be able to see the virtual ceremony?

Yes, the virtual ceremony will be live and available for all to view!
